Jewellery by Wild Acre on Big Cartel

Woo hoo, today I have FINALLY launched a taster jewellery collection on Big Cartel. Yes siree, a sample of my jewellery is finally for sale online, and it feels slightly surreal! It is all handmade by me using precious metals and semiprecious or precious gemstones. I like my jewellery unfussy but striking and wearable in the day and evening. I hope these pieces are exactly that. Everything is deliciously giftwrapped for free.

I am a little tragic in the IT department, so the shop doesn't yet look exactly how I dream't it might, but I was getting to the point where, in chasing perfection, I was stalling the process completely. So it looks kind of, erm, minimalist, and will hopefully be improved and expanded as the months go by, but it is a START. And sometimes, in that weird alchemy when dreams have to become translated into reality, one has to be practical right? Starting is just so hard! My comfort zone is in the dreamscape, but, with my heart in my mouth, I am trying to make it reality, even if it does feel like wobbling baby steps. Has anyone else who has started a creative business felt this way? I'd love to know.

By the end of the week I hope to have a button on the blog and webpage directing you to the shop, but at the moment you have to go to Big Cartel and type Wild Acre into the directory search. My site is showing just a taster sample, but I will be adding to it as and when my pieces come back from the London Assay Office where they get hallmarked. Please go have a look-see and if you like it I would be incredibly grateful if you would spread the word. Any feedback too, on style, prices, anything at all, would be so gratefully received. Thanks! xx                                         gulp!

  3. It all looks fab! I know how much work goes into just simple things like sorting out postage, writing terms and conditions etc, so I am very impressed. And I think the prices are bang on - I will be forwarding the link to a few people around birthday time! x

  4. Button for the sidebar? You need to find a picture (one of these on this post?) tell blogspot to add a picture to the sidebar. Then tell it which link to go to.

And you can always change it later, but your readers would have a one click hop to your online shop.

  6. Your beautiful jewellery ticks all my boxes, especially the fabulous brooch, so I have purchased one!
I used to have a unit within an antique centre and at the time I did create a website. It was such a headache that I gave up (it was 15 years ago so things have moved on a bit!).
I think you have done a brilliant job
and I wish you every success. Abby x

  8. Back again. Big question, will you be shipping to the US? And will you have a converter? Because I am nowhere figuring our dollars to pounds.

    But I will shop.

  9. Jan, I was pulling my hair out today, wishing I was about 5 years younger and in the generation for whom IT is second nature! It is the whole paypal, photo- shrinking etc that gives me slightly wild eyes!! Anyway, thanks for your encouragement! x

Elephant's Eye, maybe the wrong terminology - I mean a tab like the others on the right, that sends readers straight to the linked site. You know IT is a challenge for me!:)

Abbyyyyy - i'm stunned, thank you for your lovely endorsement, wow I'm thrilled. I'm going to the workshop tomorrow and will get my tutor to double check over every last detail of it for Q.C.!! I will post it on Thursday, Ist class, do you want to add insurance, or shall we trust Royal Mail. I can't refund in the very unlikely event it goes astray, so entirely up to you. do email me at wildacredesigns@gmail.com if that is easier.

Lilacs, you are lovely - thanks!!

Jane - aww, thanks for your excitement! Shipping overseas is something I am theoretically really happy to do, and thousands of etsy type artists etc do. Issues are, expense and insurance, plus horrid possiblility customs your end might slap a duty on top - it is pretty random which packages get spotted as far as I can tell. I know I have been hit buying clothes from the US.Check out the shipping info on my shop site.

I will ask Big Cartel if they have a currency converter widget. I think paypal converts automatically so you can pay in any currency. You can always google an instant converter - only takes a few seconds. Sorry this is not a smoother operation, I really am feeling my way! xx

  19. You take great photographs of your jewellery, so I think minimalist is perfect, the store looks good to me, the jewellery does the talking for you. I think anyone who tries to make money from their own creativity puts a piece of themselves on the line as soon as they "go public". When someone decides whether they like your book/jewellery/painting it can feel as if they are deciding whether they like you, the person. I could never do it, and have nothing but respect for those that do.
